First Alpharetta members went to many places on
mission for God this year. As a church, we have gone
on three trips and will be taking another trip in
October. You can read more about where we went, what
we did and how God used us below…
SELLS, AZ (October 6-13)

Ten of our people went to Sells, AZ October
6 -13 and served the Tohono O’odham nation. We
worked with One Way Ministries and First Papago
Baptist Church to minister to the local people. We
participated in construction, nursing home ministry,
and community outreach as we planted seeds for
making disciples in this area of North America. |
LYNCH, KY (May 26 – June 2)

The student ministry took 52 people
to Lynch, Kentucky in June of 2007. While
they were there, they led Vacation Bible
Schools at three separate locations in the
mornings, did servant evangelism in the
afternoons, and the worship band played at a
local student club run by a local ministry.
Our students worked incredibly hard and
served people recklessly for the cause of
Christ. It was a life changing trip, not
only for the people there who accepted
Jesus, but for our people as well. |
SIERRA LEONE, AFRICA (April 19 - 28)

FBCA sent 9 individuals in April 2007 to
Sierra Leone (west coast of Africa). Sierra
Leone is the most impoverished country in
Africa, due to the Civil War that ended in
2000. The team ministered to over 2,000
children using the platform of Upward
basketball to minister and share the gospel.
They built basketball courts, led sessions
and fellowshipped with the children and the
adults in the community. Lives were impacted
through their efforts and the village now
has three new basketball courts to use to
serve the children and the people in the
region. Each of the nine people who went
came back with a love for the people and are
looking forward to going back in 2008.

JAMAICA (March 31 – April 6)

A group of adults and students went
to Jamaica March 31 through April 6. They
served villages outside of Montego Bay.
During the week they visited 3 schools, and
spent 2 days at Granville Place of Safety, a
correctional facility for young girls. The
group worked with children, ranging in age
from elementary to high school, and they
used a Vacation Bible School format to share
the gospel. Since they spent several hours
at each place, they were able to build
relationships with the children and share
Jesus Christ with each child. They learned
first-hand of the poverty many face there,
and each one came back changed from the
experience.
